Effective defoamers for foam control in industrial processes
"Foam robs space" – this statement is often attributed to the German chemist Justus von Liebig. As one of the pioneers in the field of organic chemistry, Liebig made significant contributions to the development of the chemical industry. It is reported that he coined this phrase in connection with the chemistry of beer and the importance of foam stability. However, the derivation of the quote is not clearly documented in the literature.
One thing we can say for sure, though: Foam is an undesirable problem in many industrial applications that can affect production. Foaming is usually caused by organic or inorganic substances released during the manufacturing process. To counteract this problem, we offer a variety of defoamers that can be specifically selected depending on the application.
Foaming can lead to various undesirable effects in production, such as higher energy costs, reduced tank capacity, material loss, inefficient deposits, and slower evaporation and crystallization processes. This, in turn, leads to increased energy consumption and additional downtime due to equipment cleaning.
Our KEBOSPUM products are specially formulated substances or mixtures that are added to foaming liquids to reduce foaming. These substances can either be surfactants that suppress the formation of foam on the surface, or they can increase the surface tension of the water by containing ingredients containing oil or grease, for example. The effectiveness of defoamers depends on various physical parameters, such as the type of foaming agent, foaming mechanisms, temperature, pH, viscosity, etc. Therefore, we offer a wide range of antifoaming agents to meet all individual requirements.

Some can be removed well with alkaline agents, others better in the acidic range.
