Keller & Bohacek GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1926 as Rostschutz GmbH in Halle (Saale), Germany. The company originally focused on the construction of galvanizing plants. The chemical development of pickling and corrosion inhibitors marked the starting point for the transformation to todays specialty chemical company.

Beginning in the 1930s, the metal processing industry moved from brass to steel, triggering a demand for new corrosion inhibitors for the acidic treatment of metallic surfaces. Our broad knowledge about corrosion protection enabled us as early as 1943 to win the sugar industry as customer for their need to protect production facilities against acidic attack during chemical cleaning processes.

In order to provide holistic chemical services to the sugar and water industry, we extended our portfolio in 1945 by specialty chemicals for the scale inhibition and corrosion prevention in aqueous systems.

In the 1950s, we moved to our current location in Düsseldorf. Our partner KEBO FRANCE SARL was founded 1957 in Paris. The new group company strengthened our brand KEBO and laid the foundation for our international expansion in the following years. In 1993, KEBO FRANCE moved to its current location in Ozoir la Ferriére.

With our growing expertise in water treatment and the protection of metal surfaces we expanded our business in the 1960s and 1970s to cleaning and pickling of industrial plants in the petrochemical industry and power plant boilers.

Since 1980, our focus has been the development and production of individual chemical solutions for the sugar, ethanol, steel and water
industries.
